Skywatch Friday: Snow on Rimutakas

Today was a clear day and I could take some photos of

the snow-covered peaks of the Rimutakas near where I live.

The Rimutaka Range (often called the Rimutakas) is one of several mountain ranges in the North Island of New Zealand that form a ridge running parallel with the east coast between East Cape and Wellington. The ridge is at its most pronounced in the southern part, where it consists of the RuahineTararua, and Rimutaka Ranges.

C words Can Can

Can-can (sometimes non-hyphenated as in the original French: cancan French pronunciation: [kɑ̃kɑ̃]) is a high-energy and physically demanding music hall dance, traditionally performed by a chorus line of female dancers who wear costumes with long skirts, petticoats, and black stockings. The main features of the dance are the lifting and manipulation of the skirts, withhigh kicking and suggestive, provocative body movements. The Infernal Galop from Jacques Offenbach‘s Orpheus in the Underworld is the tune most associated with the can-can.[1]   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Can-can

Last night the first snow of this winter fell on the hills near me.

This morning was very cold but clear.

I could see the snow-covered tops of the Rimutakas.

Tuesday I decided to go on a photo shoot.

I am interested in the pier in Petone.

I took some beautiful photos of it.

A bonus was granted to me in the form of a rainbow display!

Skywatch Friday: Sunrise this week again from my doorstep

Wintertime is a time of getting out of bed a bit later in the mornings.

Just after the longest night we had the most

beautiful sun rises.

I leaf my curtain open a bit at night so I can see the morning breaking.

The glow this morning was awesome.

Wellington day out again!

Yesterday was a good day to visit Wellington again but

I did not go!

There was a big passenger ship in the harbor  and I looked forward to take photos of it,

BUT

I did not go –

and today the ship wasn’t there anymore.

This morning I decided I’ll go in to Wellington and hope for the best.

The weather was really not of the best.

I took some photos and still enjoyed the trip.

The trip from Upper Hutt to Wellington by train takes 50 minutes.

I walked around the harbor for about an hour and a half

back by train took another 50 minutes.

I have been out for 3 hours and now I am relaxing and am going to show some photos.

Enjoy.

Skywatch Friday: Better weather today!

The past week and a half we had lots of wind gusts and

heavy down pours.

Tuesday afternoon while walking Trompie it was dry.
